Minimalism: The Benefits

by Monica Ramos

Minimalism became a sort of trend since a few years with books like The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up from Mari Kondo, bloggers like Joshua Fields Millburn & Ryan Nicodemus, etc.

It is really an entire lifestyle in itself focusing on the important parts of our lives so that we can enjoy a meaningful and blissful existence.

So what are, exactly, the benefits?

  1. Our environment prime us: A messy space makes a messy mind. When your environment is clean and organized, it is reflected in your thoughts and mental state. You become more productive and efficient. Not only because you find your stuff more easily, but also because you can think more clearly.
  2. You will feel more peaceful: We focus on what is important to us. This is the main point of minimalism. Here, you deliberately choose what is the most important for you. Is it your family? Then spend more time with them. Is it your hobby? Then do more of that. Ask yourself what is less important and what makes you unhappy. Then get rid of it. You will feel much better, I promise.
  3. You will live your life with a purpose – this will be a life by design: Sometimes, it is hard to let go of old habits or people you’ve known for a long time. But, you need to have high standards because your energy and time are limited. Make it count.
  4. It creates a momentum: You will become more conscious of your actions and your thoughts. For example, you will be more aware of what you are eating, wearing, buying, consuming, etc. The momentum will change your whole lifestyle if you let it.

Start simplifying your life.

Hey Elsa (I presume 🙂 ) Great (and minimalist!) article! Couldn’t agree more. That’s why I would like to reblog it as a first article of my new “Reblog Of The Week” series! I hope you are ok with that, if not, no problem, let me know!

Great! I’ll keep you posted once it’s up. You don’t have to, but of course it would be great if you’d somehow mentioned it on your blog, too? But don’t worry, that’s not why I’m using your article, I just genuinely liked it. 🙂
