When my friends and I go out, we like to try new restaurants. We are lucky enough to live in a multicultural city where we can eat all kinds of meals, desserts, snacks, etc. This time, we were craving for Korean food. (I’m pretty sure this has something to do with watching too much Korean dramas/movies.)
We found a good restaurant that offers delicious food for a reasonable price (less than 20$ per meal) called La Maison de Séoul (Seoul’s House). As you can see, there is a lot of side dishes like kimchi (fermented cabbage and radish with garlic, green onion and chili pepper), salad, seaweed soup, soybean sprouts and sweet potatoes.
As for the main dishes, we ordered: haemul pajeon (해물파전), jajangmyeon and bibimbap (비빔밥).
Haemul pajeon is a seafood pancake (with squids, shrimps..maybe? and other ingredients that remain unknown to me) which is soft on the inside and a little bit crispy on the outside. It was served on a very hot plate to keep it warm. It was, of course, delicious. As for the bibimbap, it is a bowl of rice with seasoned carrots, soybean sprouts, lettuce, cucumber, mushrooms, a raw egg and beef. Jajangmyeon is a very popular Korean dish made with noodle and black bean sauce. It has a subtle smoky flavor that I love.
